My Students

My classroom is a place where students from many different backgrounds are able to come together to form an amazing classroom community. We work hard together, challenge each other, solve problems together, and show our support to those around us as we strive to grow both academically and as individuals.

By providing hands-on experiences and opportunities to solve real life problems, our classroom is full of rigor and brimming with chances for students to take ownership of what we are learning.

Students look forward to class, eager to see what new project or problem we will tackle that day.

My Project

Equipping our classroom with a 3D printer will provide unique and invaluable opportunities for us. As a STEM teacher, I am always looking for new ways to hook my students and keep what we are doing relevant with current technology and with what interests students.

Placing a 3D printer in our classroom will allow all students to experience new technology, help students solve real world problems using that technology, and open up many opportunities for new lessons.

Need a specific part for that Rube Goldberg machine you are building? Want to explore geometry with 3D models? Looking for real life scenarios to show students why precision is so important in our measurements and calculations? Stuck trying to help students visualize fractions? Trying to provide open ended challenges that give students a chance to grow outside of typical classroom assignment in topics they actually want to learn? A 3D printer will make it possible to accomplish these and many more tasks.

Pairing this 3D printing technology along with other resources, such as the IF/Then initiative, will not only unlock endless possibilities within our STEM curriculum, but will provide inspiration for students who might never before have seen themselves in a STEM based career due to their gender, race, socio-economic status, or any other reason or stereotype. Exposing all of my students to new technology will help ensure that they develop healthy perceptions that anyone can obtain a STEM career.
