My Project
3D Printers are being used in creative careers, the medical field, manufacturing, automotive industries, engineering, and more. I would love to add this STEAM, the educational discipline that engages students around the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math, component to the art classroom to help enhance those connections between disciplines.
My AP 3-D Art & Design and ceramics students are interested in innovative methods to create three-dimensional artwork that will diversify their portfolios.
Students would also be able to turn their digital drawings and designs into three-dimensional forms with a 3D printer. Students would be able to enhance their artwork by including new elements from 3D printing, pushing them further in the creative world of how they can diversify their work.
VA:Cr1.HS.1I Use multiple approaches to begin creative endeavors. VA:Cr1.HS.2I Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.
Skills that are transferable in the real world would be highly beneficial for our students to gain access to lucrative career paths, post-graduation. It also would help add learning relevance for students, which would help increase engagement and meaningful learning experiences.
