Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a diverse group of third-grade students from a small farming community in northern California. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals.
Our public school has a large number of free or reduced-price lunch students.
Many students are not able to bring much-needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.
My Project
With the funding of this project, I'd like to encourage my students and their families to take part in family game nights. These games, that focus on financial skills, such as counting money, saving, and spending, will create great conversations for families at home.
The importance of money and how to properly use it is important for all ages.
By bringing back family game night with these chosen games, parents can teach their children about the importance of saving. While the children can also let their parents know what they have been learning in school and explaining the difference between and want and a need.
With the tote bags, the games will be easily available for a student to borrow for a game night at home.
