Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pre-K is the initial beginning for many of our young students. Entering at age 3/4, they face new experiences, challenges, fears, and excitement. Just recently our Pre-K centers opened their doors to in-person learning 4 days a week as opposed to when our students would come to school twice a week. With this comes the demand for more supplies which we will use in school. Our budget cuts have eliminated our teacher’s choice budget which allows us to buy some materials that will enhance the learning of our students.

Art is more than just using crayons and markers.

It gives us unlimited ideas to make and explore with different materials while also learning about science, math, history and so much more. It also increases our fine motor skills and creativity. Young students use art to express thoughts since they are unable to read and write. Many of our students enter school speaking a foreign language with limited experiences and resources.

We want to make their experiences as enjoyable and pleasant as we can while also helping them gain the skills and knowledge that they need to continue their education.

My Project

We believe that children are able to reach their full potential with the help of differentiated materials, learning styles, and support. With the help of these materials, we hope to create 3-D art based on our future units of study on Light, Water, Plants, Outer-space, Author Study, and Transformation. These materials will allow our students to decorate plant pots for Mother's Day, create planet structures, make 3-D characters, collages, animal stickers, patterns and so much more! The ink helps our students with visuals to help them increase their vocabulary since many of them do not speak English. Students will also be able to use these materials to make projects when they are home if schools close due to weather or the pandemic.
