Help eager 3rd and 4th graders gain global awareness and become agents of peace and change. I teach a 3rd and 4th grade combo class at a low-income school in Hawaii.

My students show great interest in learning about other people's lives. They also love teaching and helping others, whether it's their peers, teachers, or families.

Reading "Three Cups of Tea," the young reader edition, will help my students learn about life and education challenges in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They will then be able to use "Listen to the Wind," the picture book version, to teach others in our school and community. Empowered with all this background knowledge, they will lastly coordinate a penny drive, donating all collected pennies to Pennies for Peace, a Central Asia Institute program.

This is a project that spans across subject matters, unites a community, and reaches out across the globe. Your help will ensure that this project will become a reality.
