My Project
My students and I have had a blast this year exploring STEM concepts and I'd like to give them one more opportunity to utilize their STEM skills to have one last BLAST before they go off to high school!
The materials I'm requesting will give students an opportunity to put their STEM skills to the test as they build, modify, and launch some seriously cool rockets into the clouds and beyond!
The variety of rockets I'm requesting will allow students of different skill levels to successfully build and launch a rocket. The AVG bulk pack includes a collection of easy-to-build rockets for novice builders while the wizard rockets provide an intermediate challenge while also allowing students to modify the number and placement of the rocket's fins.
But this project isn't just about the rockets. Before students can even get their hands on the materials, they'll have to compete with their classmates to earn points from a variety of end-of-year review activities. Teams that earn the highest overall score on the review activities in each class will get first choice of either a rocket OR a rocket engine. Ultimately, every team will get both a rocket and an engine, but the point system serves as a powerful motivator for ALL students to be engaged in the review activities.
After completing the review activities and after a few days of building the rockets, students will get to go outside for the big Blast-Off event. This event is great fun for all and makes for an excellent way to close out an excellent school year.
