iPads are such a great tool and will easily be integrated into many parts of our school day. I plan to use them during Morning Routines, Reading and Writing Workshop, and Math Workshop!
I teach in a school in NYC that has students coming from many different backgrounds.
Some do have access to technology at home while others do not. To equal the playing field I want to provide use of iPads in the classroom. As a school, we have realized that the push for technology is mostly at home or during computer class and not enough in our classrooms daily.
My Project
I am most excited to use these iPads to start our Kid Blog this year where students can post about how they solved problems, times friends were really helpful to them, and books they are reading. iPads don't take up much space in our room and the students can pass them around and take turns using them.
I also will use the iPads during math stations. Students can practice skills on the many apps Apple offers. Everything is more fun to practice on an iPad!
While the iPads will benefit all students in my classroom they will most help the students who do not have access to as much technology at home.
The Kid Blog will help all students to connect and having the iPads allows students to work on this from school as well as at home.
