My Students

A typical day in my classroom would entail allowing my students to free write into their personal journals; this allows the children the opportunity to express any stress, aggravations or issues that may hinder their learning throughout the day. Attitude of Gratitude! Student Success is our goal!

My students are socially economically challenged.

They come from various poverty based neighborhoods. Many struggle every day to maintain social and academic stability. They come from very diverse backgrounds which attest the cultural cooking pot that I have in my classroom. Some have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) indicating a limited desire to learn due to the climate restrictions of the environment from which they live. My school is located in a roughly low income neighborhood that registers students that have a need for development academically, socially, and emotionally.

My Project

My students will use 2D-3D media during whole and small group instruction. “Empowering Students Through Art," They will also use them during special periods during the day. The students will be able to learn various communication skills that are closely related to the Common Core Learning Standards. My class will be able to not only relate what they have learned while using these resources but they will also be able to use the skills that they have both learned throughout the year both in ELA and Math. The students will learn very technical skills in regards learning new software and applying these skills to a new program. I will teach the same techniques used by artists at some of these major animation film companies to make animated films and guide you as you discover what it takes to create computer-generated characters for movies. The hopes are that the kids will not only learn the basics of animation for film production as well as other interests.

My project will “Empower Students Through Art” and make a difference in various ways, the student will learn how to think out the box and be acceptable to the unknown and growing within themselves.

Research indicates that strong spatial thinking, a skill necessary for creating three dimensional objects, is directly linked to success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, collectively known as the STEM disciplines. This project will help the student’s brain to grow and expand
