Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year I'm going from teaching 8 incredible students to teaching 20 incredible students! This school year I moved my things into a new classroom to teach third grade general education. Though it's still quite early in the year, I can tell this group is so special and they are eager to learn. My class is filled with English Language Learners, students with special needs, and general education students.

On the first day, we discovered our classroom rug wasn't big enough to fit everyone in the class.

We gather on the rug several times a day. It's the class' favorite place for read-alouds, where we gather in the morning and afternoon for arrival and dismissal, where we decompress and discuss our feelings, as well as a great place to begin lessons to allow students to collaborate by turning and talking with one another for all subjects. This year I'm also requesting tools to support these hard-working students. My class has expressed how much they love art and how badly they want to paint. With that said, special pencils, cleaner for our whiteboard, as well as watercolors are on this list to help motivate students and allow them to dive into their own creativity in their learning. TpT gift cards will also help me continue to buy resources to help support all learners and meet every individual child's needs. To support my class in math, we're implementing a class economy system! To help make real-world connections we'll be using "money" to help students "buy" rewards from their own earnings. My class seems most excited about this and to keep their excitement up, a register is also on this list.
