My Students

In the Learning Center we have one computer with Internet access. Having a tablet will allow students to not only access the Internet, but allow them to be exposed to new learning opportunities from educational applications on the Internet.

SOCES is a span magnet school serving a multicultural student population in grades 4 through 12.

Currently, the students in the Learning Center are in the middle school and high school grades with various learning disabilities such as specific learning disability, autism, and other health impairment which includes students with Attention Deficit and Hyper-Activity Disorder (ADHD).

My Project

Many students find today's lessons boring and non-appealing. I find that some students use computers at home, while others do not have access to computers at all. I would like to get a tablet to assist with lesson presentations, to use to complete assignments for other classes, and incorporate the use of "apps" to improve skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.

The Learning Center only has one computer to use with students.

While I make do and can let one student use the computer to assist with learning, an additional tablet will allow another student to access information on the Internet, including "apps" that will make learning more interesting.
