My Students

Children today are faced with an ever changing world in technology. Unfortunately, not all children are able to have access to all types of technology. In order to give each child an equal opportunity, we need this technology in the schools.

I am a kindergarten teacher with 22 eager students in my class.

About 80 percent of my students are on free or reduced lunch. All of my students are motivated to learn no matter what challenges they have in their life or in their community. Also, all of the parents want the best education possible for their child and they try the best they can.

My Project

This is my 21st year teaching and I know technology is constantly changing. Each year I challenge myself as a teacher to bring more technology to the classroom. It is hard to do it with all the budget cuts. The iPod Touch will help bring a new dimension of technology to my classroom. It will enhance the learning of the state standards that each child is required to master. The different applications I would download will help my students with letter recognition, sound recognition, word recognition and comprehension skills. I also, plan on using it to record them reading. We will use it for math skills, too. I have found many affordable or free applications that we can use. The iPod touch will motivate them to learn and make them realize how fun learning can be. Also, it will give them a chance to use a form of technology that would probably not be available to them.

I am determined to be the best kindergarten teacher I can be.
