Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to welcome you to our kindergarten classroom. We have 35 energetic students that are eager to learn. They are an interesting group that love to explore, sing, dance, and work in an unconventional way. They love to do experiments and "hands on" activities. They love to think "outside the box". Our students are extremely eager to learn and do not like sitting in the same position for a long time.

In order for our students to capture the lessons being taught, we will need to rearrange our classroom into a "21st Century" flexible seating atmosphere thus creating a positive, stimulating, and inspiring classroom.

By incorporating the "21st Century" flexible seating in our classroom, our students will definitely be engaged, encouraged, stimulated, and inspired in learning to their up most potential.

My Project

Brain research states that various physical activities like walking, stretching, moving, crawling, dancing, and jumping can enhance the learning process. Eric Jensen states in his article "Moving with the Brain in Mind" that students will be more engaged and gain knowledge by using different classroom styles and incorporating "flexible seating" instead of the traditional way of sitting long hours in the same position.

Teachers need to engage, inspire, and encourage students in a greater variety of postures, including: walking, dancing, lying down, bouncing or any type of movement that will motivate, stimulate, and encourage the students to learn.

My project will incorporate the "21st Century" flexible seating. The students will be allowed to sit in either scoop chairs, bean bags, rugs, stability bouncy balls, stools, and so forth. The students will be gaining knowledge, exercising, having fun, and enjoying coming to school to learn.
