My Students

My second-grade students are eager, inquisitive, and enthusiastic children. They attend a public school in a suburb of Los Angeles and represent countries from all over the world. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with 45% of our students receiving free lunch or reduced lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our area. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Tamil, Russian, and Urdu.

As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.

They are always looking for more ways to be challenged and explore what they have learned. My students love to stay active in the classroom while they are learning new things.

My Project

My classroom, along with all the other classrooms at our school are currently upgrading our campus to help our students. Part of the process is finding a better way for students to be able to see shared information in the classroom. We will do that by installing a large television monitor in each room so that all the students can see lessons on monitors that can be seen easily by all.

Currently, students must view information on outdated equipment that doesn’t always work, making it difficult to conduct shared lessons with the current technology used at school sites.

We think we can do better than that. That’s why each teacher at our campus is conducting a DonorsChoose campaign to upgrade their classroom. Your donation is an investment in the education of the students and allows them to better understand and access their curriculum and stay current not only with the needed technology but with current educational trends.
