My Project

Hello! My name is Mikayla Harris and I'm the College Adviser at our high school! The Virginia College Advising Corps, or VCAC, housed at UVA sends College Advisers to underserved, low-income, under-represented, and first generation populational high schools to be a resource for post-secondary experiences. As a College Adviser, I spend my days scheduling college tours to many of Virginia's colleges and university, inviting College Admissions to visit our school, helping students apply to post-secondary intuitions, speaking with Military Recruiters, finding job opportunities, and more. One of my many tasks is to help plan the Decision Day celebration for our seniors! We celebrate all, not just seniors going to college, and I want to be able to raffle off big and exciting prizes!

Help me give my students graduate items to celebrate their hard work and achievements as they move on to the next big chapters in their lives!

My students have worked all year to establish their post-high school plan, from going to a four year college, or going into the work force, and to take action to make those plans become a reality. Hopefully the event this year will provide a sense of accomplishment and a place for celebration. The Pill Speaker, TV, and Keurig will be used as dorm room essentials
