Most of my students do not have the funds for, or experience in using, a planner to keep track of school and life-related tasks. This is a basic skill that I want to assist my 11th and 12th-grade students with before they leave high school. I anticipate that having the planners will assist my students in keeping track of assignment deadlines, planning out how they will accomplish larger tasks, and be more successful in managing their time.
My students were in 8th and 9th grade during the pandemic/online learning years and missed out on instruction in some of these basic organizational skills as they entered high school.
Additionally, many of my students here on Maui have been directly impacted by the economic challenges created by the recent Lahaina fires (either from loss of family income, loss of work hours, providing lodging for additional people in their homes, and/or providing donations of supplies and money towards those affected).
