My Project

Due to sensory processing disorders, my students need help focusing and attending during group lessons or individual seat work. Whether they are under-stimulated or over-stimulated, being unable to properly process the world around them causes them to engage in socially unacceptable behaviors, which hinders learning. Through the use of items such as BodySox, vibrating pillows, and sensory brushes, my students will be provided with an opportunity to learn the skills necessary to function in the world.

Rather than running around the room and being unable to sit in a chair, the vibrating pillows will provide my students with the input they are seeking, allowing them to focus on their work.

As for the BodySox, they have been nothing short of amazing! I received several in the past and they have helped my students with self-regulation, thus avoiding numerous aggressive melt-downs! However, due to wear-and-tear, we no longer have those BodySox, which is why we need two more.

Each of my students also have their own individual workstations, complete with workbooks and academic packets. I currently have set-ups for seven students, but with the possibility of having two new students this year, I need nine set-ups.
