Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is the fun, curious, interactive, social foundation of young innovative minds. These brilliant curious minds attend this elementary school located in an urban area. Ninety-five percent of the students are economically disadvantaged and receive free/reduced lunch, and the surrounding neighborhood consists of duplex apartment complexes and single-family homes.

The community is mostly of Hispanic and African-American descent.

I teach 32 active, curious, little minds. Parental involvement in my class is low because many parents work throughout the day. My students get very excited when they see something new to use. I love their look of wonder when I teach! With their curiosity, excitement and eagerness to learn, my students are always ready to engage in different hands-on learning centers activities independently.

As soon as my students start learning how to use the materials at centers, their little eyes start twinkling because they have build confidence in knowing that they are able to work independently or with a group. I want them to become independent life long learners with these center activities.

My Project

During this 2020 year having a working computer is essential to every teacher! This Microsoft laptop will assist me in ensuring that I provide my kindergarten class with the best in person or virtual learning experience that I can give them.

I want to support their academic achievement in everyway possible.

This means that I need to have the best possible technology to support them during remote learning!

Providing individualized support and strengthening their basic reading and math skills are my goals this year and every year. Technology is the only thing currently in my way of not being able to achieve this. I am constantly having to restart my computer due to freezing issues. Applications just not functioning correctly on my outdated computer is not only frustrating to me, but to my students that have their time taken from them when I come across these computer problems.

Having a new laptop to work with my students excites me for all the endless possibilities!
