My Students

My first grade students are eager to learn and love to participate in hands-on STEM activities. By providing engaging hands-on activities, students are able to stay more focused and on task.

As a teacher, I want to create an environment where children love to come and learn.

I teach in a NAESP- Member School where 50% of the students come from low-income homes. My first graders come from a community where families are working hard to provide the basic needs for their children. Our time together in the classroom helps provide a community where children feel safe and develop not only academic skills but also the social skills needed to live a productive life.

My Project

These STEM materials will give students the opportunity to create and build in a group. Problem solving, working together, and creative thinking are skills that employers are looking for in their employees. These materials will help foster a love to invent, solve problems, and try alternative solutions. Students will create together while learning how to cooperate in productive group work. Experiences using these STEM materials will help develop the creativity and social interactions that are in high demand in the work force.

My students love to create and use their imaginations!

I love seeing my first graders fully engaged in activities that encourage creativity and social interaction.

I teach at a Title I School with at least half the students from low income families. My school is a NAESP - Member where students set and reach their goals.
