Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in an area of low economic development. Over 90% of our students are growing up in poverty. Books and resources are scarce in their homes. But they come to school every day eager to learn and to apply their new skills.

My students love to learn and are full of questions about the world.

We read stories every day and one of my goals for them is to foster a passion for reading and for books. They love getting to know new characters and for many of them, it is their favorite part of the day. My students are the kindest, most curious, and fun class ever!

My Project

My 1st graders are creative, bright and dedicated students. They have gone through a lot of changes these past 2 years with all the challenges that have come with this pandemic. Many have suffered learning loss and we need to do everything we can to get these kiddos back on target academically.

Young kids learn best when they can play with hands-on materials.

These games and puzzles will be used daily when I meet with small groups. The rest of the students will be completing these activities to reinforce what they are learning with their sight words and spelling objectives.
