My Students

"Look at mine Mrs. Sintich," these are the words I hear multiple times when we are using pattern or base ten blocks during math. My students love to explore with their math manipulatives and always come up with creative designs.

Most of my students come from low-income households and their parents don't have the means to purchase enrichment materials for their homes.

I do the best I can to supplement, but budget cuts have made this difficult to get the materials that will help them be successful.

My Project

The Magna Tiles will be used by my students for Engineering, math, and as a tool to build their creativity. Students will engage in Engineering activities using the Magna Tiles to help them meet the NGSS and give them an opportunity to explore STEM activities using the tiles. In math, students will use them to build their understanding of Geometry, 2 dimensional, and 2-dimensional shapes. Having something they can touch as they learn, brings another layer of understanding that is crucial for my young learners. As for creativity, students will have an opportunity to use the tiles during independent, workstation time to create masterpieces from their imaginations. They will love creating with them.
