My Students

The 100th day of school is a big celebration for my young learners. We count to 100 in a variety of ways. We celebrate reading 100 books, write about what we would do with 100 different items, and spend a lot of time celebrating all their accomplishments.

I teach First Grade at a low income, Title 1 school in Moore, Oklahoma.

Over 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunches. The students in my class are excited to come to school and learn. I strive to make learning fun and exciting for these young learners.

My Project

Can you imagine an entire class of students singing and celebrating as they counted to 100, read 100 sight words, worked 100 piece puzzles, and wrote about 100 things? To make this celebration "over the top" we would like to have stickers, book marks, and glasses in the shape of 100. We need a pocket chart with numbers 1-100, and chart paper to graph our results. We also need some basic organization items. My students do not have many of the advantages other students have. Help them learn to love coming to school!

The benefits of the celebration will be renewed excitement as we enter the downward slope of the school year.

They will be motivated to do their very best, as they celebrate their accomplishments and those of their classmates.
