Help Mr. Kiesel

We learn the best when we're inspired to gain new knowledge in order to create. My computer science students are learning to program computers in the Java programming language, which is one of the most in-demand languages in the programming job market. The more solidly these students are able to learn to creatively apply programming skill, the more powerful their college prospects and life prospects become! That's why I'm excited to give them the opportunity to learn programming through the creation of their own computer games.

Our district is in a tough spot geographically and socio-economically, while a computer programming course hangs somewhere between math and science in terms of already limited funding. These students have amazing creativity! The more ways I can offer them to engage in learning computer programming, the more solid their future opportunities with these skills.

I have already been developing this project with free programming tools available online. What I need to really get this ball rolling is resources to help guide the students as they plan and execute their creative visions. By creating with the computer language, my students will further internalize it. This provides them with a skill-set that can be invaluable for their college and career aspirations.

With your donation, my students can build skills that are vital in the emerging information economy and secure the best lives possible for themselves and their families.
