My Students

I work with a diverse group of students with disabilities in a special day class program. My school is a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood where most of the families struggle to meet their basic needs. Many of my students struggle to learn new concepts without the use of hands on manipulatives to help them learn.

My Project

When I left my classroom in March, I never imagined that I would find myself teaching a kindergarten through third grade special day class from my computer this year.

I am requesting hands on math manipulatives my students can use at home and when we return to the classroom.

Many of my students are struggling to keep engaged and learning right now. They need visual supports and hands-on manipulatives to understand new concepts. The math manipulatives would serve as a tool that we can use during Zoom lessons to go over material easily and to display visual models for all of my students. I will also be able to use all of these materials with future classes in the classroom during carpet time work or in small groups.
