Help Bring Our Unit On Native Americans to Life!

My students need craft materials including loom supplies, feathers, clay, and beads for their unit of inquiry on Native Americans in the Midwest.

My Students

We want our 2nd grade students to be INSPIRED by the history of our area!

We are a new French immersion school located in the Midwest.

Our Kindergarten students spend their days reading, writing, and speaking in French, and they are doing an amazing job in their language acquisition! Are we a private school? "Non!" A gifted school? "Mais non!" We are a 100% free charter school that believes that learning another language is part of a larger goal of preparing our kids to be leaders. Our students come from all backgrounds, and this diversity is what makes us who we are. We have a great group of community members and families supporting our mission, and hope you will join us!

My Project

Our unit of inquiry on the Native Americans who lived in our area will be enhanced through the hands-on projects found in this proposal. These materials will provide rich experiences like weaving baskets, using looms to create woven fabric, and stringing necklaces with bone, glass and wood beads.

Through the process of creating these projects, students can better understand the way of life of the Native American population in the region.

Their knowledge of social studies will widen as they barter their created goods, give them as gifts, and use them in their performance of student-written plays.
