My classroom is full of 5-6 year old students from all ranges of socioeconomic status.
These babies are eager to learn and are so excited when new experiences are offered to them in the classroom. I have some students who are well above grade level, while others are struggling to keep up. Our school is surrounded by different neighborhoods and apartment complexes.
My Project
Audio books are such a great tool to use when it comes to literacy in the classroom. My kinder babies love to sit and read, but some students find this task to be difficult. Having the audio book option will allow my lower level students to listen to the book and try to follow along. This will provide opportunities for the students to hear grade appropriate vocabulary as well as see the words as they are being read aloud. Higher level readers can be challenged as they read/listen to audio books that are on a higher reading level. All students, no matter what reading level, will be able to benefit from these resources.
As an avid reader myself, I know the joy you can feel when finishing a nice book.
All I want for my students is to be able to feel the same pleasure from the literature they are exposed to in my classroom. Your donation to this project will help ensure that all the students in my classroom have the opportunity to listen and read classic literature and be able to go home and tell their parents or grandparents that they read the best book at school today.
