My Students

Our High School needs books in our social studies classrooms. Our last books were purchased over 10 years ago and our school population has more than doubled since. The social studies department has been repeatedly overlooked due to preparation for CSAP Testing in Math, Science, and English.

Our students are amazing!

They care about their school and want the latest and greatest opportunities to learn. An example of this is a group of students who are finalist in a competition to win 100,000 to buy technology for our school. Because of budget cuts, our social studies departments have struggled to provide students with much needed materials.

My Project

This project includes the purchase of 25 books for a classroom set of A Little History of the World by E.H. Gombrich. The students can realistically move their way through this book and complete projects that spring board off of it. The reading level is appropriate for high school students and the amount of information it provides is not overwhelming as many world history books are.

This will reach around 150 students per year in world history classes. Aldous Huxley quoted "Men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important lessons that history has to teach." Help us learn the lessons of history!
