My Students

Do you remember reading boring textbooks? Help my students get more out of math class through reading material written in a more interesting and approachable way.

My students are ninth graders at a public school in Nashville, Tennessee.

The school has a very diverse student body. Over half of the students at my school qualify for free and reduced lunch. The students work hard but their math skills are below the level of our textbook's first chapters.

My Project

These resources will raise my students' comfort with basic math skills. The flashcards allow students to play a "war" card game while practicing multiplication and division that we will later use in more complex problems. The activities books provide ideas for how to connect abstract algebra concepts to the real world. Danica McKellar's books focus specifically on motivating female students and provide clear explanations of important concepts.

Success in high school math courses has a huge impact on students' ability to graduate from high school, apply to college, and pursue their career interests.

These resources will help my students master math skills that they will use throughout high school and the rest of their lives. Thank you for your help!
