See us ROAR--Read Our Annual Rosies! I am the librarian of an Indiana high school, grades 9-12.

The library nonfiction collection in my school is very dated; the majority of the books in the nonfiction section are from the 1970s. As a result, our budget for 2009 is 100% focused on updating nonfiction. I would like to start a Rosie Reading program for my students for the 2009-2010 school year. In this reading program, students will win prizes by reading Rosie books. *The Rosies are the top 20-25 books chosen by Indiana teachers and librarians for Indiana schools. Due to budget constrictions, I need assistance in providing students with Rosie books for the program.

I need up to five copies of the multicultural Rosie books. These include four copies of "Red Glass," four copies of "Sold," five copies of "Samurai Shortstop," four copies of "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian," and four copies of "A Thousand Splendid Suns." These books give students a multicultural perspective and encourage reading across the curriculum. The Rosie Reading program encourages recreational reading, which is often lacking in high school students. It provides a positive promotion for the library and gives students a worldview beyond our Indiana walls.

Your help will ensure that my students are able to participate in the Rosie reading program. Many students find libraries to be places where they can expand their imagination and gain new knowledge; the Rosie Reading program will encourage that. See us ROAR--Read Our Annual Rosies!
