Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher at PS 28 in The Bronx, NY. I am trying to build a "community of learners". I am requesting a digital camera to help bring this dream of a "community of learners" into a reality. A digital camera would serve many purposes in the classroom. We would be able to use it to document our trips around NYC, as we study the city and its landmarks as part of our social studies curriculum. We could then print the pictures on the school's computers and write about our experiences. We will also be able to use the camera to document our various classroom celebrations, such as writing celebrations. These celebrations take place after we complete a writing unit of study. We invite other classes and parents to come and hear us read our writing. This year, I am also planning on having days when the students invite their parents in to learn various reading and math activities that they can do at home to help them learn. The projects that can be completed with a digital camera are countless. I also hope to have each child take home a "memory book" of their experiences in the second grade, which would be priceless. In advance, I thank you for supporting this request.
