Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a wonderful group of curious second grade students in a large urban public school. They live in a poor urban neighborhood where they don't get many opportunities to explore nature.

My students love to explore insects. They don't have the materials or background knowledge to study insects with any depth, so I want to provide them with as many materials as possible.

These materials will give my students an opportunity to explore a subject that interests them greatly. The knowledge that they gain in this unit of study will help them learn how satisfying their natural curiosity can lead to a deeper understanding of all things in nature.

Your help will make it possible for my students to deepen their knowledge of the world, while giving them the necessary skills to participate in scientific inquiry.
