I am at a high poverty school in an Inner City. The children are mainly from a one parent family that is struggling to make ends meet. This first grade class has been struggling with writing and we are trying to stimulate their interest by making their writing more personal and more colorful. We are studying animals and communities.
We recently received a grant for a digital camera and printer package but unfortunately I was unaware of all the costs involved in actually printing the photos. We really need some assistance in buying the essentials for printing our pictures. We took pictures for one day and ran out of storage space, couldn't print the 35 photos because the ink ran out and had to buy paper to print on. Please help us get these materials so we can have a successful project and involve the children in more enriched writing.
If we got the ink and paper we would be able to create books for our writing that had color photos that each child took of their favorite place, person, animal or food. The batteries would keep our camera functioning and the memory cards would help us store pictures to be used in different projects later in the year.
You can make this project successful by helping us out. The children were so involved in picture taking and writing that I was amazed at the new interest they had in writing. you can help me continue to make them into the writers of the future. Thank you for reading our proposal and hopefully for funding it.
