I teach Kindergarten in a high needs school. This year I only have 23 students. I would love it if my students could have some more independent reading time in which would include listening to stories while reading the books themselves. There is no more real "play" time in Kindergarten and so I really think that having alone time to listen to stories at their leisure may help to stimulate their minds as well as their spirits.

Since I teach in a high needs community I feel that the students can get a lot out of supplies that I do not have yet in the classroom. The students feel that their classroom is their second home and I try to make the room as comfortable as I can. This is so that the learning environment helps make the students feel welcome and have a safe, secure and fun place to go to when they come to school.

My classroom can use a CD player in order to read books while listening to the words and music. The students can relax their bodies and stimulate their minds when there is classical music on in the background. We can use the CD player to play songs that we use movement with. We are still using an old record player that came with my classroom.

Your help will ensure that my restless little five year olds can simply relax and learn by the soothing sounds and music of the CD player we are hoping for.
