  • Kindergarten STEM Supplies

    Funded Jun 11, 2019

I am so thankful for all the generous donations. I am thrilled that this project was funded.

My students are going to love all these new materials. We now have ten mini iPad cases that will protect the mini iPads in our classroom. We also have new headphones that the students will use daily during our reading rotations and our math rotations. We also have reams of colorful paper that we will use through out this up coming school year.

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. These materials will be used for many years to come. I am truly grateful for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

  • A Space for each Unique Face

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

    Dear friends,

It is amazing how our rainbow colored carpet has helped my class. First the bright colors stand out in the classroom making it a cheerful place. It seems to motivate students to pay attention and do their best. Before we had the carpet, the students sat on lines made with duct tape. It didn't look nice at all. The kids were so excited when it was out and I heard lots of squeals of happiness.

Secondly, our students can quickly have their own personal space. Sometimes it would take us five minutes to get everyone in their best spot. Now we get right into our next activity. The carpet has dividing lines so they know exactly where their space is. In addition the boys and girls don't have conflicts from being too close to each other.

Lastly, the rainbow carpet easily divides our class into 5 groups. We use them to take turns lining up, getting materials and going to different tables for activities.

The students and I are motivated to take good care of it. We stomp our shoes clean after P.E. before coming in to class. We don't carry anything close that may spill. It gets vacuumed daily which is recommended to keep it in good condition.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Smith

Kindergarten boys and girls need their own space. With this colorful rainbow carpet, each student will have a place to sit. The lines of each spot will show them where to keep their hands and feet. I will use the carpet to teach my kiddos about personal space and how to respect each other's space. For many of my students, this will be their first time in school. The rainbow colors also help organize the boys and girls when they move to an activity. At the beginning of the year, it is not only my job to teach academics, but classroom routines. This includes how to line up, how to listen politely when others are talking, and how to sit criss-cross with their hands and feet to themselves. This carpet would help students be successful understanding and following these Kindergarten expectations. You would not believe how much time it takes to get kindergarten boys and girls in a good spot without a carpet. With this carpet, there won't be any problems or wasted time. Each child will have their own space so they have a visual of exactly where to keep their body. We spend a lot of time learning on our carpet. We will use it during math, reading, and word work. Every time I teach whole group, we will be using our new colorful carpet. The best part is the kids will have a space to call their own.
