  • Teaching Financial Literacy

    Funded Sep 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your thoughtful donation to my Donors Choose project and funding the project for my students to understand more about financial literacy. My students have enjoyed earning tokens to "purchase" activities and items from our class store! They are now more motivated to complete the classroom jobs! Vacuuming is now a favorite! The students earn tokens for good behavior, completing classwork, and doing their classroom chores to buy from the store as they choose! This teaches them earning and spending as well as making choices. Thank you for making a difference in my classroom!”

The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card was used for supplemental activities for learning about plants and life cycles! We were also able to learn about chickens and how they hatch through the figurines and even got to see real baby chicks!”

The students in my class bring tremendous amounts of joy to our school. Their smiles are contagious! They have significant developmental delays and are currently working on basic letter sounds in hopes of forming words and the ability to communicate their feelings and needs to other people. We attend a high poverty elementary school where a significant amount of the population does not speak English. Several of my students' parents do not speak or read English. The only exposure to English these students get is in the classroom setting. They do not go out to eat, they do not participate in extracurricular activities. The only contact they have with people other than people in their households is at school.
