  • Lunar New Year

    Funded Jan 21, 2025

Teaching my students about Lunar New Year this year was great fun, I loved that I had books this year that students could read to themselves and that I could read to them. In the past I have had to find the books online and show the videos to the class. My students loved the lucky candies many of them asked for seconds so they could share them with family members. Many remarked that it was not like any type of candy they had had before. I was fortunate enough to be able to make all of my students little gifts of stickers, fortune cards and some candies to help celebrate Lunar New Year. We celebrated it on the day before February Vacation and had lots of fun sharing their fortunes with each other. Thank you so much for helping my students have a great time and learn more about Lunar New Year in a hands on way instead of just reading articles and listening to books online.”

  • Missing Items No More, Cooking Storage

    Funded May 7, 2024

Last school year when I submitted this project I had one goal making sure the cooking items didn't go missing over the summer. Once the kitchen island came I realized not only would we not lose the items over the summer, but we would be able to find items so much faster this school year because the drawers would keep items together and we will be able to sort things.

The very first thing the students and I needed where the mixing bowls I was so excited to go to one spot open the drawer and find all the bowls. Not two bowls over here and three bowls over there all the bowls in one spot. Then we needed the apple slicer I knew exactly where they were and where all the blades that go on them are. I am so thankful for this kitchen island. I am thankful that I do not have boxes sitting around the room with different cooking items in them or in different cupboards. My students are also able to put dishes away promptly because they know that all the items go back in the kitchen island.

Thank you so much for helping make cooking easier in our classroom.”

  • Walkie Talkies for Safety

    Funded Apr 29, 2024

The walkie talkies have added an extra sense of security when the class goes on walking field trips and when we are on large field trips where adults are separated. The Walkie Talkies have given us the ability to ask where the other group is or advise a group to go a different direction or even just give a heads up that the lunch line is really long. My students have found creative ways to use the walkies as well. Students ask to bring them outside when we go into the woods (on school property) so they can spread out more, but I can also get a hold of them and they can get ahold of me. Students will frequently call on the walkie to ask questions about assignments and I can walkie to all the students to let them know when it is time to come back into view or if we have a change in the directions. I have also had students ask to use them so they can go work further down the hall, but they also wanted a way to keep in touch with the room.

I can't begin to thank you enough for helping me keep my students safe while we are on field trips and for giving my students the opportunity to be more free at school.”

  • STEAMing Ahead

    Funded Mar 4, 2024

At the end of the school year my students had so much fun creating with the STEAM materials. They used the aluminum foil sheets, popsicles, and pipe cleaners to create anything they wanted to go "in a park". Most students choose to make a statue to add to the park, others created playground equipment.

We also made lots of oobleck (science experiment). Students had fun finding out the relationship between water and cornstarch. Adding water or cornstarch to make the solution until it became non-Newtonian.

The STEAM materials helped my students enjoy and have fun at the end of the school year.”

  • Work at My Level Please

    Funded Dec 23, 2022

In the classroom, we still feel the effects of COVID every day. Students are still working to learn topics that they should have earned when school went out during COVID. These gift cards allow me to buy work for my students to help fill in the learning gaps that they have. I have been able to buy fun activities that allow students to complete the work in an interactive way that is not just using worksheets. My students have made huge gains by having the work that they need at their individual level and not work that is over their heads and hard to understand.

Thank you for helping my students fill in learning gaps!”

  • Crocheting Isn't Just for Grammas

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Crotchet has been a huge success!! My students loved learning to crochet during indoor recess and During Crochet Club. Students learned to make scarves for themselves and for their toys, they made hats and bookmarks. Many students loved just learning to chain stitch and finding out how long they could create a chain. Having a variety of hooks and yarn allowed all students of all fine motor skills to participate.

Having the kits was great for indoor recess because it allowed students to sit together and socialize as well as help each other with crotching skills. Often I would hear "try this" or "a bigger hook might help".

Thank you for helping me teach my students a new skill!”

  • Organize the Room Please

    Funded Dec 29, 2022

Thank you so much for helping my students and I start to organize the classroom. All of our card games are organized and are much easier for the students to access. My students are now able to easily grab their Friday Folders because they are hanging on the wall and we can easily see whose folder is in each pocket.

We were also able to organize our erasers into one container so they are not free-floating in the draw and we have been able to organize some of our craft supplies.

Thank you so much for helping my room become more organized!”

    With gratitude,

They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientist, writers and artist.
