  • Middle School Sensory Room

    Funded Oct 30, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations of sensory items to aid our students with special needs in learning how to self-regulate! Some of these materials are used in our designated sensory room, like the fidgets and Zones of Regulation poster. Some of them are used in our special education resource room, like the calming light-up stool, bags of fidgets for individual students, and the velcro. Some things were not that useful for students, like the weighted lap blanket and the water-filled mat. But luckily because of your donation, we were able to find out what worked and what didn't. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to order a wide range of materials to support all students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Heinlein

  • Hands-On Stem

    Funded Aug 27, 2022

Thank you so much for your support of this project! 6th-grade students were able to choose different activities to participate in for a fun day. These students chose to do "science and art". I pre-cut the lids of the pizza boxes, but they designed them and put them together. We've had an unusually wet winter here and had to wait for a day with sunshine. Once that day came, the students were so excited to make their solar ovens and eat smores! All of the students were able to use their creativity to build their oven, learn about science through light and heat transfer, and enjoy a delicious snack!

Thank you for your support and for helping bring fun activities like this one to classrooms that wouldn't usually have the funds for something like this. Our 6th graders are so appreciative!”

  • Middle School Poets!

    Funded Mar 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! My 8th grade students had so much fun creating their poetry notebooks! Each student got a notebook and we used the colored pencils and pens to decorate each poem we added. Students were able to personalize their notebooks. This helped even the most reluctant writer like and enjoy their notebook.

We used the books to read sample poems of different genres, including odes, concrete/shape poems, haiku, cinquains, and bio poems. We read poets like Pablo Neruda, Gary Soto, Amanda Gorman, and Maya Angelou.

thank you for helping me to create excitement around poetry and to expand my student's understanding of this literary genre through books and, art, and creativity!”

  • Gardening: Hands-On, Experiential Learning!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations! My students always love doing projects that go along with our reading, writing, and communication lessons. Gardening got them outside and getting dirty, too! After a year of staying home and online learning, most of my students did not have the opportunity to learn while in nature. They either learned at home through a computer or at school, but sitting at a single desk and not interacting in-person. With gardening, we were able to safely be outside, while learning, communicating, and having fun. Thank you so much for the gift of these supplies and these experiences that will no doubt be brought up to high school and beyond by my students. I appreciate your support!”

  • Exciting Reading Materials!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations to this project! These materials get used DAILY in my middle school English Learner classroom.

The magnets and magnetic dividers help me organize my objectives and agenda on the board. Students to write them daily in their planners. I appreciate that they are easy to change out each day!

The magazine files are wonderful for students to keep books, journals, and supplies organized in the classroom instead of floating around getting dirty and ruined in their backpacks. Since I teach small classes, I have the luxury of having the space to do this!

The most used and treasured items from this project are the magazines. My students love getting to take their magazine home at the end of the month and love that they can write in it, annotate, highlight, and answer questions. Plus, the articles are relevant and the images are engaging. I am so happy that I was able to add Scholastic Action to our classroom this year!

Thank you again for your generosity! We appreciate you!”

  • Increasing Literacy Through Gardening

    Funded Jul 28, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation! These materials are such a blessing as we start our garden project! Students are able to use the gloves as we begin planting. The watering cans are important as we don't have a sink in our room. The books have been wonderful to introduce the gardening subject.

We are finishing up a cultures unit in 6th grade, so the books "Wangari Maathai: The Woman Who Planted Millions of Trees" and "Wangari's Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa" are such a great connection.

In 7th grade, they are finishing up a personal narrative storytelling unit. The book "Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants" has great first hand stories in it that we use as mentor text.

Thanks again for your generosity and kindness!”

  • Back To In-Person School

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students are thriving because of our additional materials!

Due to high COVID numbers and the Delta variant, students were not able to sit together in groups during quarter 1. But now that numbers have drastically decreased in our community, we are able to collaborate and utilize our new table. Having a quality round table for my class is so helpful for students to practice speaking and helping each other with their social and academic language.

The books we received have been so wonderful. Each day, students have advisory and are able to DEAR - Drop Everything And Read. Each student is able to find books they want to read due to our wide and diverse classroom library. I am also planning literature circles for next quarter and students will get to choose which book they want to read!

Thank you for supporting my students and helping me provide a supportive environment and excellent education. I appreciate you!”

  • Tablet and Pen for a Digital Whiteboard

    Funded Jan 29, 2021

Thank you so much for your support with this project! I love integrating technology in my classroom, but it can be hard to keep up with new technology. Thanks to you, I was able to purchase an up-to-date iPad that is compatible with an Apple Pencil. I loved getting to use these with my students this past spring as I taught concurrently - in person and online at the same time. Being able to draw right on my iPad and project it to my computer for my students to see was incredible.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support during a year when students and teachers really needed it. I appreciate you!”

  • Study Skills for Middle School ELs

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

Thank you so much for all your support! Starting a new class halfway through the year while also teaching concurrently was overwhelming. Thankfully, with your support, I was able to plan lessons for this class and help my students finish their first year of middle school successfully!

The headphones allowed students to focus on their classes while learning from home, sometimes with multiple siblings in the same room. All the books I requested in this project really helped me teach organizational strategies for my students. They especially liked the 7 Habits for Teenagers. I plan to continue using these resources next year as well.”

  • In Person and Online Learning

    Funded Aug 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! My family has an Apple TV at home to watch apps such as Netflix and Hulu, but an Apple TV in the classroom has a much different purpose. I was so lucky to move into a classroom with a Smart Board this year. But, without the Apple TV, I would have had to use a cord to connect it to my computer. Since I am teaching both online and in person, having my computer tied to the Smart Board would be really difficult. And since I can now stream my computer screen to the Smart Board, my students in the classroom can see what we're doing without being tied to their own computer. It really makes concurrent teaching (teaching in person and online at the same time) a lot easier to manage. Thank you so much for your support. I really couldn't do this impossible job without your support.”
