  • Math Center

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students and I were overjoyed when our project was funded.

We are using the materials to help organize our independent work and create learning centers in our classroom. These materials assist the students to work independently and stay focused and organized. They also help me to keep track of the students work and their progress. The students are having fun while doing their enrichment activities. Thank you so much for helping us to achieve our goal.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Arena

  • Help Our Imagination Run Wild!

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank You graciously for your donation to our classroom. When we received the packages we opened them together. The scholars were so excited once they saw the materials. They too were overcome with gratitude due to your generosity and thoughtfulness. After explaining Donors Choose students were inspired to give back within their own communities to "pay it forward". They will be forever impacted by such an act of generosity. This experience has evoked students who are more consciously aware of the world around them and for that we are thankful. Additionally, students were able to increase social skills through play using the items donated. We could not have been more thankful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crookendale

  • The Invisible Child and Digital Arts

    Funded May 6, 2014

I am so sorry this is so late. II hope you can forgive my misunderstanding. I was under the impression that I had already sent along the electronic thank you. You can see that my students do need access to their own digital instruments!

Students made good use of the digital tools provided to them. We had fun and learned so much while creating our animations. We created stop motion animations on various topics including U.S. government as well as poetry.

I hope I have expressed my deepest thanks and appreciation on behalf of myself and my my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. C.

  • Busy Bees Need Tonor!

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for the wonderful donations. I have created several fun centers that I can easily copy for my students. I am able to make copies of whatever skill my students are having difficulty without having to worry about tonor. If my students need extra practice or need to print something they can easily get what they need with a push of a button. Having tonor for the copy machine/printer is a great help in the classroom when I have students at all different levels. I can't thank you enough for your generosity!

Thank you so much! I know that you have been helping my students and my students are extremely thankful. They often say wow these people are really nice and care about us. Just love hearing that. Thank you! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mendoza

  • Literacy Through Technology

    Funded May 6, 2014

On behalf of my students I would like to thank you for your contribution to our project. The three iPad Mini's to our class has enhanced learning incredibly. As a New York City teacher this gift has supported student success tremendously.

During small group instruction my students are able to share the iPads in groups while researching selected topics in their reading and writing assignments more effectively. They are able to utilize helpful math applications that enhance instruction while making learning easier and fun. My students are super excited about learning and have made more efforts to work harder.

Because of your generous donation, this project will help enhance learning in all of the core content areas: English language arts, math, and science. It will help them gain many of the necessary learning skills needed to become college and career ready. They will be able to change their behaviors for the better, which will enable them to be more productive in our society.

Again, we thank you for your generosity and look forward to working with you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Johnson

  • Busy Bees LOVE Books!

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your kindness! I can't thank you enough for your generosity. I teach in a high poverty neighborhood. Your donations has made it possible for my students to visit Barnes and Nobles and purchase their own books. I am confident this is an experience they will remember for years to come.

My students were so excited when I told them we would be going to Barnes and Noble, since none of them had ever been to Barnes and Noble. When we arrived at Barnes and Noble they were in awe with so many books. They were amazed that they were able to pick their own books to purchase with their gift cards. It filled me with joy to see them so excited about books. As soon as we were in the bus they wanted to read their books.

My students are eager to learn and are a pleasure to teach. I strive to be able to teach my students to the best of my ability and you have made it possible with your donation. You have made a huge impact in my students' education! Your donation shows my students that there are people in the world that are interested in their education! I hope that through the pictures you are able to see what a difference you have made in our class! Once again, thank you for caring!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mendoza

  • Fishing for Learning

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for the donation! I wish I could have captured my students' reactions as they opened up the packages when they came in. Their faces lit up with excitement to see what new materials they had received. As they opened the packages, the ooooohhhs and ahhhhhs were all you heard. They immediately wanted to know how they could use the new materials.

We are using these resources all the time! We use them during our ELA period to reinforce their letter sound relationships. They see it as a game instead of work, which makes my job easier. We also use the number fishing game during math, to work with those students who do not know their numbers. The most exciting part for me is that the students want to use these materials during their free time! They are so interested in the materials that they choose to work with them even when we are not requiring it.

They have learned so much using the materials that you have so graciously helped us get! Thank you so much for providing me with opportunities to engage my students in learning through different materials!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zurita

  • Help My Students with Autism Get the Sensory Input They Need

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your generous contribution! My students have used the requested materials to help navigate the classroom and access academic content. My particular students require a significant amount of sensory input since they have all been diagnosed with autism. These supplies have been incorporated in my "break" area where my students can release their daily jitters. The materials have also helped individual students complete their work. The seat cushions help them with their balance and focus; these will help my students will stability and focus. I work with a positive reinforcement system in my classroom. While some students are ready, willing and able to sit for instruction for approximately 5 minutes at a time, others are not. This is where the sensory hand massager comes in! My students are rewarded for good sitting and paying attention skills with a sensory reward in their seat! This will help pair good in seat behavior with something positive. Therefor, the likelihood of good in seat behavior will increase in the future!

Thank you again for the impact you made on my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gianotti

  • Teaching, Technology, Literacy, Oh My!

    Funded May 6, 2014

My students love the resources they received! The computer and books are hits with everyone! The white board they don't like so much because that is where their homework is posted each and every day but it is really helpful for the students to stay organized. The students read the books independently by checking them out of the classroom library. The computer is used when a student needs to research something for one of their classes or look up something they don't know. They love having the ability to be independent and look up something on their own. They have a sense of empowerment!

    Thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Whiffin

  • One Step At A Time But Always Forward

    Funded May 6, 2014

This is a symbol of our gratitude for the generous donation of a printer to our classroom. This donation has motivated my students to great ends. As the teacher, the printer has enabled me to efficiently pass notices to parents containing the progress of my students. As a class, we conduct lots writing assignments and this printer will allow for the students to keep a neat, typed-out journal to strengthen their reading and writing skills. The students were happy to know they have an opportunity to express their excitement about any events by putting together a class flier and printing for whomever it applies.

Without your assistance in our classroom these students would have to endure limitations that are otherwise adverse in their situation. No child should be denied the promise of an education, and you have helped me to keep that promise. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bell-Lee
