P.S/M.S 42 is a NYC public school in Far Rockaway, Queens. 90% of our nearly 700 students in PreK - 8th grade come to us from low-income homes and are considered to be "at risk" youth.
As a Renewal School, our mission is to increase academic excellence for all children by providing programs which will nurture and support their strengths and needs - specifically, prioritizing literacy across the curricula.
Our Extended Learning Time (ELT) require students to attend school for an extra hour each day -engaged in rigorous, differentiated instruction in ELA and math and a choice of one enrichment elective.
Driven by our belief that everyone deserves a quality education, we work tirelessly to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn within a safe, scholarly environment so that they meet the academic expectations of the NY Common Core Learning Standards - preparing them for the bright futures they deserve!
