  • Be the Change You Wish to See in the World!

    Funded Aug 26, 2019

Thanks to your generosity, our students were not only armed & ready with the supplies they need, but they have been thriving since. Before students even arrived, we were able to create an inviting classroom environment using the bulletin board materials we received (even the kids from last year keep stopping by in awe of how amazing our room looks!). The room has a calming ambiance, free of clutter & as you can see in the photos, has dedicated space where we can show off student's fabulous work in a fun and engaging way!

Students also haven't had to worry about supplies as we have more than enough pencils, paper, post-its, markers, etc... to go around. This year, the focus isn't who has what or unimportant factors like that, the focus in our room is learning!!

All of this would not have been possible with your kindness & desire to help us make a difference in the lives of our students! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno

  • Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

    Funded Aug 31, 2018

Thanks to you and your kindness and support, this has been our most successful year yet! All of our students have been working hard this year, armed with any and all supplies they need to be successful! Everything has been utilized and helpful in ensuring our students reach their potential: including notebooks & pencils, student "office spaces" (blue dividers for privacy) & caddies, pencil cases filled with pens, pencils, scissors and highlighters, as well as mini chairs and desks for students to use and work in the hallways.

When the students were first given the materials, they were thrilled! We had decided to open all the packages with the students. So, when we were unpacking the boxes and distributing out the supplies per class, the students were able to see all the amazing school supplies our family and friends had donated. Each child was given 5 notebooks and 5 folders, one for each subject. Their favorite materials were the cool mini desks & chairs they use in the hallways and on the floors!

Currently, with help from all the construction paper, markers, printed facts and craft supplies,we are beginning a project and unit of study on ancient civilizations! The students have had endless supplies to choose from to build these magnificent projects. Also, we have been able to print many documents, worksheets, and student papers with all the printer paper!

The love that you have given our classrooms is tremendous! Thank you again for all your support - it truly takes a village!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno

  • We Get By with a Little Help from Our Friends...

    Funded Aug 13, 2017

Wow! The support that you have given our classrooms is tremendous! So far this year has started off extremely successful. From notebooks to writing utensils, both classrooms are working hard and striving towards goals. During the first two days of school, Ms. Bonanno and I had distributed the materials to our students. We had filled pencil cases with pens, pencils, scissors and highlighters. We had given each student 5 notebooks and 5 folders, one for each subject. And, we have been able to print many documents and worksheets with all the printer paper!

When the students were first given the materials, they were thrilled! We had decided to open all the packages with the students. So, when we were unpacking the boxes and distributing out the supplies per class, the students were able to see all the amazing school supplies our family and friends had donated. Their favorite new addition to each classroom was the carpet!

Currently, with help from all the construction paper, markers, printed facts and craft supplies, Ms. Carbone's class is creating tri-fold board presentations for their 7th grade research study on indigenous people of North America. Daily, the students have had endless supplies to choose from to build these magnificent projects.

Thank you again for all your support. As teachers, we want to supply all that we can to our students, and we couldn't have done that without a little help from our friends.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Dec 12, 2016

Your gift has helped my students become self-sufficient, responsible users of technology. Having access to their own pair of headphones and a USB drive on which they are able to save their work as they go has been a game-changer for our class. On a daily basis, students to utilize online academic tools and resources such as i-Ready (ELA & Math instruction), GO Math, Mathletics, EPIC Books, Google Earth, and much more - this technology was useless before you were kind enough to help us purchase headphones and usb drives because students often had a very difficult time focusing on their own work on their own device (audio, videos, etc) because other students are doing similar work and the clash of sounds would create a very unproductive, noisy environment! The headphones were a powerful solution!

Equally important are our USB drives - not only are they useful, but students are so excited to have their own drive and lanyard that they often sport them around school so the other kids can ask "oooh, is that all yours?". These usb drives come in handy every day as we are constantly moving from one task to another and students often work at their own pace. USB drives give each child the freedom and autonomy to save work as they go and develop a sense of responsibility for their work time and growth as a student.

Thank you again for your generous donation and support of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno

  • To Read, Or Not To Read - High Interest Books, No Question!

    Funded Oct 9, 2015

I can't thank you enough for your generous donations & faith in me as an educator. Thanks to your thoughtful gift, I was able to purchase high-interest and appropriately leveled books for my students that continue to help transform many of my reluctant readers into true scholars who read for pleasure!

It is my belief that every kid has within him or her the potential to be successful, but oftentimes students require an extra push, or an advocate who empowers them to realize their greatness. It is the support from people like YOU that continues to push my students - empowering those reluctant students to unlock their potential by providing them with the books, supplies, and tools they needed to "get the ball rolling!"

You have made all the difference in the world! In the words of Rita Pierson, , "Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

Thank you for being their champion!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno

  • Notebooks And Pencils And Binders, Oh My!

    Funded Sep 3, 2015

As we enter the third month of school, the classroom supplies & materials that were purchased with your incredibly generous contributions are being put to great use by each and every child in my classroom! Thanks to you, my students are able to focus on their learning and growth as scholars without having to worry if they can afford another notebook, pack of pencils, or if they can find a pack of post-its for the next day's reading. 6th grade is a critical year for students and these supplies give them an opportunity to read, write, listen, speak, & think on a daily basis with rigor and focus.

My Redwood scholars actually look forward to writing on their bright post-its for their "stop-n-jots" (our system of jotting down their thinking as they read their independent books), many of my students can't wait for the opportunity to jump on the reading carpet & curl up with their new book, and the media cart makes our lives (scholars and my own) so much easier during the day as we have an appropriate "home" for our projector, laptop, & speakers! Your generosity continues to help my students learn in a stress-free environment - it is a wonderful thing!

It means so much to teachers when people like you contribute to the learning experiences of our students. Thank you for recognizing the importance of early education!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bonanno
