1st Grade STEM Bins: Hands-On Experiences
Funded Aug 8, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your kind donations toward my classroom.
With this project I have been able to fill our STEM Bins with an engineering manipulative, such as LEGO bricks, pattern blocks, toothpicks and playdough, or popsicle sticks with Velcro. The boxes also contain sets of task cards that picture a variety of basic real world structures to inspire students to build.
My students absolutely love the STEM bins and the creativeness it brings to our classroom. My students are eager to be able to grab a bin and let their brains think and guide them in different ways. A
Again, thank you so much!”

Classroom Meeting Area
Funded Jul 9, 2016Dear Donors,
I can't begin to express how thankful I am for your donation towards this project. I am a huge believer in making my classroom feel like a 'home away from home.' With this rug I have succeeded in this goal and more. It has truly made such a huge impact on my classroom. This rug adds much needed color and a wonderful spot for our class to meet. My students love to have their own space as we meet as a whole, and space to stretch out and read during various stations we have during our day. I am so grateful for your help in funding this project!”

Funded Aug 17, 2015I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful contribution you have given me and my classroom! This project has allowed me to reach students and their needs at my guided reading table.
When students come to my table, we begin by building sight words with our magnetic letters. Sight words are a vital piece of early reading, since a large percentage of the books for this age consist of words that are not phonetically spelled or decoded. We practice building these words over and over again. Then, we place these magnetic letters on our dry erase boards and practice using these words in sentences.
As we begin reading as a group, we use the telephones to quietly read to ourselves as I listen in to various readers and teach them decoding skills as they need it. For those students who are not pointing to each word as they should, I present them our LED finger lights to remind these students of their strategy.
My students are thrilled to use these items each day, as am I.
Again, thank you so very much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sires
