• Preparing for School During a Pandemic

  Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom's project! While teaching during a pandemic, there are many things to consider for small children. Some children are still confused about what is happening and why. The books funded by this project have been very helpful to inform them as well as ease their minds and hearts.

  The books purchased through this project are about diversity and inclusion. It's important for students to see themselves and others represented in book characters. This allows them to validate how they feel and look and be more understanding and accepting of how other people might feel or look.

• Diversity and Acceptance Books for Children

  The books purchased through this project are going to make a huge impact on the students in my class.

  All of the books purchased by your donations are books that will be used in diversity and acceptance lessons. These books have characters of different races, different backgrounds, different socio-economic levels, and different family types. It is so important for children today to see book characters that are like them as well as characters that are different from them so that they can have a well-rounded understanding of the people around them.

• Self Regulation for Successful Students

  Thank you so much for your support of my classroom! This year more than ever, focusing on the social and emotional well-being of students is so important. My students have been out of school for 6 months because of COVID-19. They have been away from their friends and school age peers. They are confused about what is happening in the world around them and need help to understand it in kid terms.

• Socially Distanced Student Activities

  Thank you so much for your support of my classroom. There are so many new rules and expectations on the students during this unprecedented time. They are being required to socially distance in the classroom, which also means during recess. For that reason, it was necessary to find activities that the students could do or play with independently.

  The items that were purchased by this project allow the students to have fun and do so independently. They are loving the play-doh and play-doh tools, the different types of building blocks, and the puzzles.

• Graphic Novels Benefit Reading Skills

  Thank you so much for your support! My students were SO excited to see the new books that I had to create a check out list to keep it fair! This is evidence that the books you helped to purchased are of high interest to my students and will keep them interested in reading!

  The boys were thrilled with the sports options and the girls were excited about the minecraft and sonic options. These graphic novels are sure to keep my students engaged in independent reading for years to come.

• Super Spatial Hands-on Learning

  Thank you so much for your support of my classroom. My students were SO excited to receive our new items for STEM time! My students love using legos so the Lakeshore Building Brick Challenge Kit was a HUGE hit! They love trying to make the creations on the idea cards and making their own as well.

  These items are great for developing the spatial skills and awareness of my students. These are skills they will need as they get older not only in relation to STEM, but just in general! While new technology is great, I love getting my students involved in hands-on activities on these building blocks kits. Hands-on activities are important for students and allow them to communicate with each other when they are working so these are also great for developing appropriate social skills!

• Flexible Seating for Focused Students

  My students could not be more excited about the new flexible seating options that you helped us to buy!

  They are so excited about the new bar stools, new couch & ottomans, and the new storage benches! They love being able to choose their type of seating each day so that they can be comfortable while they learn.

  I love providing my students with new seating options in the classroom because the students are able to wiggle, learn, and be comfortable. These things are so important for young students.”

• Learning Stations for Student Success

  Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students were so excited to see the new learning station activities and puzzles for math and reading. They have already started using the CVC word cards. These are perfect for practicing beginning reading, blending sounds, and they are sensory cards which is beneficial to my students that learn best through touch! Once the students are fluent using the CVC word blending cards, we will move onto using the beginning blend word cards. These are helpful in developing their reading and writing skills.
