• A Cozy and Inviting Space

  Thanks to your generosity, my students now have a more comfortable and inviting space to relax, reset, and refocus. The new covers for our bean bag chairs have transformed our Calming Corner into a cozy and welcoming retreat that students genuinely appreciate and respect.

  One moment that really stood out was during our first week back after the materials arrived. A student walked in, saw the updated bean bags, and said, "Wow, it feels like home in here now." That small reaction meant so much—it showed how something as simple as a soft, clean space can create a sense of safety and care in a school setting.

  We use the Calming Corner every day. Whether a student needs a quiet moment after a tough morning, a space to breathe during a break, or just a reset before rejoining the group, it's made a real difference. Having a clean, fresh cover on the bean bags has also helped set the tone that this space is respected and maintained with pride.

  Our next steps are to keep incorporating mindfulness and self-regulation strategies as part of our daily routines. The calming space has become a meaningful part of our classroom culture—it's not just a corner anymore, it's a tool for learning emotional awareness and managing stress.

  I am thrilled to share how your generous contributions have transformed our classroom environment! With the new beanbags and resources for our social-emotional corner, my students now have a dedicated space that fosters comfort and connection. They love coming to class, where they can sit down, relax, and openly discuss their feelings. This area is adorned with supportive messages on the wall, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages them to express themselves. One memorable moment was when a student, feeling overwhelmed, took a seat in the corner and engaged in a heartfelt conversation about their emotions. It was a beautiful example of how these resources are making a difference in their lives.

  When my students first saw the beanbags and the setup of the social-emotional corner, their eyes lit up with excitement! They quickly gravitated towards the space, eager to explore the toys and engage in meaningful discussions. The joy on their faces as they settled into the cozy beanbags was truly heartwarming. It was evident that this new addition provided them with a sense of belonging and security, allowing them to feel happy and welcomed in our classroom.

  I want to take a heartfelt moment to express my gratitude for the generous donations I've received through Donor Choice. Most of these contributions came from the parents of my students from last year, particularly from the vibrant Asian community. Your support means the world to me, and it has allowed us to fully fund this year's piñata project! I am excited to share that this project will be incredibly enjoyable, as it not only provides us with the resources to create piñatas but also creates an opportunity for our students to learn vocabulary and explore cultural traditions and celebrations together. Thank you for believing in our projects and helping us make this learning experience memorable.
