  • BINGO! The Math Game

    Funded Jan 17, 2024

Thank you to the Marcus family and Amazon Future Engineer program for your continued support. I am so excited to bring to life another fun project. I can not wait to play multiplication BINGO and have some exciting prizes to give out. I am also eagerly waiting the replacement supplies to help finish the year strong.

    Thank you so much.”

  • Supplies for Painting Shells to Spread Joy

    Funded Oct 2, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. This project has brought so much joy to the students. Each week students join a session to paint shells for someone they know or to hide for complete strangers.

Students have made thoughtful designs for birthdays and just because for family members and friends. They have made thoughtful messages and pictures to share around the local towns. Many shells have been "hidden." When some of the shells are found they are posted to a local Facebook page., extending the joy to the local community.

    Thank you again.”

  • Back-to-School Supplies.

    Funded Sep 7, 2023

Thank you again for your generosity. Reflecting on the lightening fast past four month, I can say with certainty that these supplies have made a difference for my students.

The classroom supplies such as the pencil cases, highlighters, and calculators have helped keep the students prepared and ready to learn. The paint pens provide for a great enrichment with the shell painting sessions I offer. The snacks and drinks provide for a much needed recharge for the after-school club I run.

These supplies are much appreciated. Thank you so much.”

  • Sea Shell Painting and Decoupage

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you to the DonorChoose sponsors who make matches and gift card codes possible. My classroom and school are a better place thanks to your contributions.

While this project was funded with the support of sponsors, it is always the private donors who touch my heart the most. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity through the years.”

  • Capturing Kids in Action

    Funded May 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation in support of this project. The camera lens has helped to capture beautiful action shots. The lens is used to take photos at home sport events. These photos are shared with the school community and the coaches and students.

The photos help share a story about the student experience at our school. The students also get a chance to see themselves in action or to see their friends represent their school. In addition to photos, this lens helps capture stunning, high-quality videos of students on the field and court.”

  • Printing in Color!

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for this color printer. I appreciate your generous donation to support all of the students at our school.

We have used the printer to make beautiful flyers, colorful door decorations, and to print color coded reports. Each paper and design printed has added so much value and joy to our school.

We have printed colorful sport schedules for our activities bulletin board, colorful flyers for our concerts, and fun club flyers. My students most recently made beautiful Hispanic Heritage posters using printed photos.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Type, Click, Cut, Personalize

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for funding this project which extends beyond my classroom and to the school community. This Cricut has been used for many projects. I cannot post photos of shirts with names on them due to privacy, but I can share how the Cricut is also used to help brighten up the front office. The office staff makes holiday and seasonal decorations to hang in the office. It really brings a friendly feel to the office. This is often the first and many times the only place parents will visit the school.

The school administrators are making changes to the uniform next year and all students should be receiving uniforms from the school. The Cricut will be running on overtime to help add names to the shirts.

Thank you for supporting this project.”

  • Something New, Something Old (Replaced), and Something Blue (Markers)

    Funded Dec 14, 2022

Thank you for bringing this project to life. This project provided so many supplies that bring a smile to our faces. From the stamps to recognize hard work to markers to make fliers bright and beautiful. The students love the BopIt and Simon game. The students race to play it at the end of every class and enjoy it during WIN period. Even the flash cards have been a hit during tutoring sessions where student race to answer.

Some of the other supplies have helped to create neat, organized bulletin boards.

    Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeLisa

  • Building Community Through School Spirit

    Funded Sep 22, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting this project. This has been a fun project to bring to life. Although it took a lot of time to make all of these t-shirts it was worth it. The students who signed up for our "Green Squad" had a new connection to the school that involved connections to a teacher, snacks, other students, and the sport community. Most of the students who joined the Green Squad attended their first school sporting event with the green squad. Now many of them attend games and matches regularly.

I hope to develop this program for years to come. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Yum Yum in the Tum Tum!

    Funded Sep 14, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to this project. Snacks are always a big hit with students. I have been able to have snacks on hand when a student reports their hungry because they missed breakfast because they were running late.

The snacks are primarily used for kids who attend the after school club I advise. The snacks are essential because some of the students eat lunch as early as 10 a.m. and the club meets from 3 to 4 p.m. Students love having options to choose from, sometimes the options are so good, they cannot decide. It's a good problem to have.

Thank you so much for your care for my students and the work I do. I am so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeLisa

I do my best to create an engaging classroom by integrating collaborative structures and take the pressure off of knowing and place it on learning. It's working, my students are engaged. They make me proud everyday. However, the students are still young and energized. This means that for 90 minutes I remind students to stop making unnecessary noises. The noises come from tapping ... tapping their feet, their fingers, their pencils. Tapping everywhere. I remind them to also stop tipping their chairs. In a recent reflection, my students reported being stressed. Math gives many students anxiety. In addition, many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes and struggle with the effects of the stress that has on their home life. It's no wonder they can not contain their energy. I also don't want them to have to. While I have some squishy toys I do not have enough, but they work at reducing distracting energy releases. I also add stand up activities, but it's not enough. I want my students to be able to release their energy whenever they need to. It just needs to be a productive release. Kids are happy to trade tapping and tipping for something else, especially something they enjoy. So let's give them the trade and make math more enjoyable and more kid-friendly by adding some ways to release their anxiety, stress, and energy in a positive way. These wobble stools (20 in total) and Squishes will provide safe energy releases that the kids need and that will help everyone focus during the 90 minutes of math class. These stools will last in my class for years to come.
