Message from Superintendent Barbara Eason-Watkins

Michigan City Area Schools is excited to join the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program. This opens up new opportunities for teachers to receive funding that will enrich the educational experience of our students.

Thanks to DonorsChoose, caring individuals and organizations from across the country are empowered to make a difference by contributing to projects that resonate with them. This has already impacted many Michigan City classrooms, providing our educators with materials they need to keep students motivated, engaged, and successful.

About Michigan City Area Schools

Michigan City Area Schools serves approximately 5,600 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, at 12 schools. Our district also oversees the Adult Education and Career and Technical Education programs for LaPorte County, Indiana, serving seven surrounding districts.

About 80% of our students qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Our population is comprised of 42% White, 36% Black, 11% Multiracial, and 10% Hispanic students -- living mostly in the urban core, but also in rural areas.

At MCAS, we take great pride in our diverse community. We are committed to ensuring that all students will graduate college and career ready, prepared to achieve their goals and contribute positively to society.

Thank you in advance for considering a donation to support our work. Our dedicated educators and innovative programs are life-changing for our students! We greatly value the support of our families and the larger community.
