  • Reading Our Way To Better Math Skills!

    Funded Feb 23, 2015

What an amazing way to learn math! These books have been so great for our students. They often ask if we can re-read one of the books as a refresher so they can really get the concept. Math does not come easy to all students so having these resources have made a huge difference in our school. Your donations and gifts of learning have helped many of our students. Prior to these books we had many kids struggling to understand now they look forward to math class because they understand and are learning. Thank you so much for jumping in and helping us get the materials we need to make a difference in the lives of students!”

    Ms. Ivy

  • Morning Meeting In Session-Part Two

    Funded May 29, 2015

Thank you so much for your kindness and support of this project. This is one of my favorites. The first part of the project was putting Morning Meeting books in the hands of the teachers. Even with some reservation, the stuffed bobcats sealed the deal. The students absolutely love having their own mascot in their classroom. These are used during Morning Meetings to facilitate conversation. Most of the time they are used as the "talking stick". What students doesn't love to talk when holding a stuffed animal?

The other items, such as balls, are used during different activities. Each of our morning meeting consists of a greeting, sharing, and group activity. These supplies help support all of the different activities available from our book.

Thank you so much for providing the resources needed to fully implement morning meetings in our classroom.”

    Ms. Carrico

  • Cozy Up and Read

    Funded Jun 5, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our Cozy Up and Read project. The students were so excited about getting the beanbag chairs and the mats. They instantly settled in to read. It made reading a much more comfortable experience for them. These chairs and mats made my room more warm and inviting. They are really enjoying reading!

I am so thankful for this long list of supporters that made this project possible. I can't possibly thank you enough for your support. The many educators on this list give so much to not only their own students, but also students they have never met. Thanks so much for your kindness!”

  • Math Intervention

    Funded Sep 25, 2015

Session 2 of Math Intervention is wrapping up and because of your donations, 6th grade students have been able to receive beneficial support in their math skills. During our time in Math Intervention, students were able to use the flashcards to continue to work on skills of decimals and fractions. We also were able to play Around the World with the flashcards building speed and confidence in fractions.

All the items have been useful in reteaching so much needed math skills that 6th grade students are going to need this school year, as well as into 7th and 8th grade. One of the biggest hurdles for students, is understanding something without some conceptual (visuals) to help them. All these resources I received, help students to understand fractions and decimals with visuals.

I can't begin to express my gratitude. I want so badly for my students to be confident in decimals and fractions. You have helped me by giving me some tangible tools to help my students.

    Thank you!!!”

    Ms. Deaton

  • A Memory Will Last Forever!

    Funded May 20, 2015

My students love the laminating machine. They love that everything we work on gets to me laminated so that it does not get ruined. They love watching the laminating sheets go through the machine and see the neat work come out so clean.

They love to see me cut the pieces with the cutter. They are amazed! My students are so thankful that they are able to cherish these memories forever. They appreciate their work even more when they see the finished product.

Thank you so much for helping my students get these items that will last a lifetime. They are able to appreciate their work and share it with others.

    Thank you so much,

  • Color Our World Again

    Funded Jul 21, 2015

I am amazed that ALL of you gave to get our students these supplies. I would say that construction paper is one of the most beneficial classroom supplies. We use construction paper every week. Currently our students are creating region flap books where three pieces of construction paper are needed to complete the project. Our students picked the colors and are loving to learn about regions. These flap books will be wonderful for our students to take the information they have learned home. We've also created maps to go along with the story, The Bee Tree, leaf rubbings, weather charts, and many more projects. Next week we'll use green and orange to create 3D pumpkins.

Thank you for caring so much about our students and helping to get them the resources they need. Without you our classroom would be missing one of the most vital supplies in the classroom. This project will fulfill a need this year and will most likely spill into next year also. You are a great blessing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Melissa Smith

  • ABC's: Achieve, Believe, Create, Succeed!

    Funded May 13, 2015

We have received some beautiful books and awesome games and art project materials that the children are really enjoying. They are punching out letters, making book marks, and playing interactive games on the Promethean board to help them learn the letters and sounds. I just smiled the other day when a small group of boys got together during free choice stations and used the fancy crimpers to make pictures. When they found out they got to take it all home and show their family, they just beamed. The ABC books are a great addition to our classroom library. Some of my children can already read them and others are just thrilled to look at the beautiful pictures as they practice their letters and sounds looking on each page for pictures that start with each letter. There are ABC books about the rain forest, zoo animals, cats, wild animals, farm animals and baby animals. I feel so lucky to have so many books to share with my students. Thank you for making this possible. My hope is that they will love reading as much as I do.

I know there are many projects you can choose from to support, and I am so grateful that you chose our project. We are the "stars", and you are helping us shine bright this year. May you enjoy a wonderful fall season, and please feel free to check in with us throughout the year. You're the best!”

    Mrs. Hunt

  • Do-Re-Mi Wanna Play!

    Funded Feb 5, 2015

Thank you for believing in music program, my students, and myself. Your donation has made a huge impact on our students. They are so excited to have recorders and tone bells! All year, my students asked, "When are we going to play an instrument?" Thanks to you and your generous donation, I can finally say "Today!"

During our weekly 30-minute music lesson, grades K-3 used the tone bells to help reinforce pitch while singing our solfege warm-ups. We also used the tone bells to accompany grade-level songs while students sang. In 2nd and 3rd grade, students began reading pitches and performing on the tone bells. In 3rd grade, we transitioned from tone bells to recorder and performed 3 songs on recorder in our Patriotic Concert. Student learning was evident as their ability to match pitch and sing in tune were the most noticeable improvements since receiving this grant. Students were also able to identify and perform pitches on the staff using their tone bells and recorder, which lead to reading, creating and performing age-appropriate songs.

I would like to thank you again for your generosity. I love hearing the students in the hallways and at recess singing songs they sang in class and talk about the cool new instruments they get to play. It is so heartwarming to see their faces light up when they hold an instrument. Thank you for your support to my music program and music education.

    Sincerely,

    Jennifer Atchue”

  • SnapWords Give Sight Words Meaning

    Funded May 25, 2015

We are so overwhelmed with thanks for the amazing resources we have received with the project, "SnapWords Give Sight Words Meaning". We love learning with SnapWords and acting out the different words and seeing the words come alive with the pictures on each flashcard. The sight word steps are awesome and we incorporate them with many fun games. The children in my class are learning sight words faster than ever and are loving it! The fun resources and games you have provided my Kindergarten class will be used for years to come and this class will benefit from it tremendously. Learning sight words and becoming fluent in them makes students much more confident readers. Our goal of learning 50 sight words by the end of Kindergarten seems so attainable! We are going to soar past it! Again, thank you so much for making this a possibility in our classroom. We are appreciative of your kindness! Sight words have been made fun!”
