  • An Epson Document Camera to Master Algebra Using Visuals

    Funded May 15, 2013

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping us to purchase and use our document camera. The level of engagement is noticeably improved with being able to incorporate this wonderful and powerful tool with classroom math instruction.

Using the camera, our class is able to use different visual models to better represent various mathematics concepts. Student understanding and progress with mastering different math concepts, including algebra have been impressive.

Thank you again for donating to our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cukro

  • Have a Ball - Healthier and More Focused Students

    Funded May 15, 2013

My students are really enjoying the stability ball chairs. They were so excited when they arrived and they could hardly wait for me to inflate them. Although it took a few students a little time to get used to the different feel of sitting on these types of chairs, they are all doing very well now.

Not only have these ball chairs increased the students' focus and attention during lessons, but they have also improved their posture. No more slouching or sitting all curled up on their tailbones. I can tell by their improved posture that they are also strengthening their core muscles.

An unexpected benefit has been that our classroom floors stay cleaner with the use of these chairs. We have tile floors and our previous chairs made scuff marks all over the floor as the students constantly scooted the chairs in and out. The stability ball chairs don't make a mark. This has really made our custodian happy. The only problem we have is that now all the classes at our school are jealous and they want to get the new chairs too.

Thank you very much for your support and generosity.”

  • Chrome Us! Please!

    Funded May 30, 2013

My students are grateful to all of you for all of your donations that helped us to get a chromebook for the classroom. We have very old technology in our building and it helps to have a little extra in the classroom for my students to extend and practice learning tasks and even conduct online research if necessary. They especially like the idea of taking the chromebook to their seats to complete tasks.

I hope that in the future you are able to donate to other projects I may post!

Again, thanks for all that you do. My students and I can't be thankful enough!”

  • Differentiation Through Tablet Technology

    Funded May 17, 2013

My students are grateful to all of you for all of your donations that helped us to get a tablet for the classroom. We have very old technology in our building and it helps to have a little extra in the classroom for my students to extend and practice learning tasks and even conduct online research if necessary. They especially like the idea of taking the tablet to their desks.

I hope that in the future you are able to donate to other projects I may post!

Again, thanks for all that you do. My students and I can't be thankful enough!”

  • Let's Get Moving!!

    Funded Jun 18, 2013

Thank you for these amazing materials! My students are very energetic little learners and are in constant movement! These materials make it possible for them to get their energy out in a structured, but fun way. They love the musical instruments and props for the music. They often fight over who gets to be the Muffin Man or who gets to use the oar to row the boat! The activity mats are great for movement as well as for giving them a physical boundary to sit when we're on the carpet. Thank you again for all of your support, as none of this would be possible without you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Operation Organization

    Funded May 14, 2013

Words cannot begin to express my gratitude to you for your donation and help with my classroom and students. Each of my students is so very special and all of them learn so differently. Because of this I constantly have to find out of the box objects and ideas that will best help them learn and achieve both classroom and individual goals. Because of your thoughtfulness and generous donation to my classroom, my kids are able to access the materials in the classroom and best understand and participate with their grade level curriculum and their classroom peers.

Through interventions and materials that you helped to contribute to, I am able to best give kids access to the classroom and lessons and now all of my kids can participate while maintaining independence. Your donation makes a huge difference in the classroom and in helping my students learn while gaining independence skills which will eventually lead to the creation of self-sustaining and successful members of society. I am grateful to you for your donation and I especially want you to know what a great difference this makes for my students. You have helped change little lives and to give each kid a great chance at success by providing resources we would not otherwise be able to have.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Owens

  • Literacy and Technology

    Funded Jun 17, 2013

Thank you very much for your donations. With this tablet I have been able to open up my students to a world of digital possibilities. To begin with the amount of classic literature that is now available to them through apps such as google books is fantastic and best of all free. Many of them like looking in to some of the classics not only because of the more recent popularity from movie remakes but because the story lines have good hooks. In addition to the books, we now have access to innumerable apps that let us explore concepts in math and science. My students are able to manipulate shapes, practice facts and even research material via the tablets that they could not access before. Again, my class and I thank you and we are deeply grateful for the materials you have generously helped supply for us.”

  • Building More Than Just a Greenhouse

    Funded May 14, 2013

Thank you all for funding this project and providing my students with the materials we needed to build indoor greenhouses.

My students really enjoyed working with their hands to design and prepare and assemble the pieces that resulted in a desktop greenhouse. They were quite impressed with how well their design kept in heat and moisture. We decided to grow tomatoes and peppers within the greenhouse, and they grew very well, but we ran out of time in our school year to see them fruit. Now that we have the greenhouse built, we can start our plant unit earlier and harvest our fruits.

Thank you for giving my students this valuable learning experience and for supporting public education in New York City.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oszust
