Message from Superintendent Jessie King

Our district is committed to ensuring all students graduate college, career, and community ready. Our hope is that our partnership with DonorsChoose will serve as a mechanism for fostering additional support for high quality first instruction.

Therefore, we hope this school year is filled with many wonders and amazing ventures for both students and staff in the Leland School District. The district and school teams have planned an exciting year of events, that we are sure will challenge and inspire everyone. Nevertheless, we are hoping spending quality time in each sector of the learning environment within Leland School District will be an amazing journey the entire year.

About Leland School District

The Leland School District (LSD) is a small district located in the Delta in Leland, Mississippi. The Leland School District serves approximately 800 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 at 4 building sites in a traditional school setting. 100% of LSD students qualify for free and reduced meals and our population is diverse and comprised of 90% Black, 7% White, 2% Hispanic and 1% Multi-Racial students.

At Leland School District, we are focused on our mission which is to empower students with the necessary intellectual, social and civic development to succeed in higher education, obtain rewarding careers, and contribute meaningfully to the world in which they will live.

To support the goals of our teachers, the Leland School District is very excited to join the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program. This partnership will open up new opportunities for teachers to fund projects that will help them provide the kind of educational experiences our students need to be prepared to thrive in the 21st Century. By partnering with DonorsChoose, together we are building a better tomorrow; one where more children will have access to an education that will prepare them for college and career, and give them the opportunity to lead productive lives.
