  • Cloud Forms and Self-Portraits

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

    We are grateful for your

generous donation of charcoal paper and transfer paper! We can’t wait to use the paper you have provided for our Cloud Forms paintings and Self-Portraits.

Thank you for supplementing our art supplies with essential materials that we desperately needed to make these projects a success!”

  • Artists' Lamps, Table-Top Easels and Lesson Demos

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

We have been using the marvelous cordless lamps and table-top easels on a daily basis for drawing and painting. Thanks to your incredibly generous donation, our art studio has been transformed from a room with fluorescent overhead lights and flat surfaces to an artists-friendly environment with natural lighting (the cordless lights shed natural light) and easels for every student.

Good lighting has a tremendous impact on artists still-life arrangements, by creating dramatic lighting effects with cast shadows. Easels give the artists better perspective since their subjects are upright and now, so are their paintings, minimizing the distortion of proportions on canvas.

This was an immensely helpful and useful addition to our Art Studio and the students who work tirelessly. We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your loving kindness.”

  • Watercolors to Wash Away Our Worries

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

This week we began to work with the gorgeous new Senellier watercolors for our exploration of compositions through negative space, using live plants in the art room. Students decide the best arrangement to design a rectangular composition, and they paint the negative space using watercolors. In the Advanced class, students are using the watercolors to make a color version of their landscape compositions. We will continue to use these marvelous watercolors to wash away our worries, making self-portraits in the Advanced class and painting watercolor pans in the beginning classes.

We are thrilled to be the recipients of your generosity and loving kindness. Thank you so much for making a huge difference in our art studio!”

    With gratitude,

  • Back to the Basics

    Funded Feb 16, 2023

Drawing pencils are the most frequently used tool in our art studio. We use Derwent graphite pencils for a multitude of assignments: mechanical and organic forms, blind and modified contour drawings, 3D forms, still life arrangements, figurative drawings, gesture studies, and for applying shading and blending techniques. We use drawing pencils for laying out our compositions before transferring drawings to canvas as well.

We are grateful for your generosity and kindness. Thank you for contributing to our art-making studio.”

  • Enhance Creativity and Display with Printer Ink and Picture Frames

    Funded Jul 9, 2024

Thanks to your generous donation, we were able to print successfully on our color, printer, using the ink cartridges that we received from this project. In some cases, we printed photographs of plants that the students took, design a successful composition through negative space. In other cases, students took photographs of mechanical and organic forms for still life arrangements that they drew in graphite.

Thank you so much much For giving us the resources we needed to make our color printer a functioning part of our art studio.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rosenberg

  • Ink Well and Kneaded Erasers

    Funded Feb 23, 2024

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for fully funding our classroom project for the Canon Pixma 4500 color printer ink cartridges. Your generous support will ensure that our students can continue to explore and create with vibrant, high-quality prints for their negative space composition studies, landscapes, mechanical forms, organic forms, self-portraits, and digital artwork. The printer is an essential tool in our classroom, and with your contribution, it will be well-equipped to handle our upcoming art-making assignments and visual models.

Your generosity will have a lasting impact on our students' artistic education, providing them with the resources they need to bring their creative visions to life. We are deeply grateful for your support and for investing in the future of our students' artistic development. Thank you for making a difference in our classroom and for helping us nurture the next generation of artists.”

  • Acrylic Medium

    Funded Apr 17, 2023

Acrylic medium was the key ingredient that students' needed to explore underpainting and glazing with acrylic paints to create rich, luminous colors. Thanks to your generosity, students explored the effects of using transparent layers of paint to build saturated color sets.

Thank you for providing this crucial medium to help students explore new ways of applying acrylic paint to their canvas. We added one part medium to one part paint, to change the viscosity and extend the paints. Thank you for supporting urban art students when we desperately needed the acrylic medium to complete our works of art.”

  • Canvas is the New Classic

    Funded Jan 16, 2023

Thank you for the square canvas boards, upon which students painted abstract color tables inspired by the works of Paul Klee. Students used acrylic paint to test primary and secondary colors, including tints and shades. Their color theory explorations were vibrant, abstract and heart-warming.

Thank you for your generous contribution and loving kindness. My students really enjoyed this project, and we framed them, so each student took their painting home in a frame to share with their families. This is definitely a project I will repeat with new students this year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rosenberg

  • We’re Stumped!

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Thank you for the blending stumps, tortillons and kneaded erasers. We have been using them every day in our art classes. Students use the blending stumps and tortillons to practice their blending and shading techniques. The kneaded eraser is a subtraction tool for removing graphite and charcoal in areas that students have overworked, and they're excellent for creating highlights and light tones.

We're grateful to have these tools when we "kneaded" them most! We used them for fabric folds, crosshatch paper bags, self-portraits, and full figure self-portraits.”
