• Ukuleles for Us!

  I wish to express my deepest gratitude for the generous donation of ukuleles to our elementary music classroom. The impact these instruments have already had on our students is truly remarkable.

  From the moment the students saw the ukuleles, their excitement was palpable. As we unpacked the bags, their curiosity grew, and when they realized what was inside, their reactions were unforgettable—cheering, clapping, and an overwhelming sense of joy filled the room. These ukuleles have sparked a new level of enthusiasm and engagement in our music program, one that will last long into the future.

  The introduction of the ukuleles to our curriculum is an exciting step toward helping our students develop a deeper understanding of music. Through these instruments, we will explore fundamental concepts such as fretted instruments, chord structures, and chord progressions. These essential skills will form the foundation for their musical growth and open the door to a greater appreciation for music theory and performance.

  In addition to the educational value, the ukuleles have fostered a sense of community and collaboration in our classroom. As students learn to play, they are also learning to work together, listen to one another, and share in the joy of making music as a group. This experience is fostering teamwork, patience, and perseverance, qualities that will serve them well both in and outside of the classroom.

  These beautiful instruments have already begun to make a significant impact on our students' learning experiences. The engaging sounds have captured their attention and sparked a newfound enthusiasm for music. With the xylophones, students are exploring melody, rhythm, and harmony in a hands-on way, allowing them to develop essential musical skills while having fun.

  Moreover, the xylophones promote teamwork and collaboration as students work together to create and perform music. They encourage creativity and improvisation, providing a platform for students to express themselves and explore their musical ideas.”

• Project Orff: Phase 4

  Funded Sep 7, 2024

  We had such a wonderful time adding the alto metalophone to our class orff ensemble! It captured students' attention and encouraged active participation immediately. We had a wonderful tactile experience, allowing students to explore musical concepts such as minor tonality through play and experimentation, fostering a deeper understanding of sound production. Students also had a tactile and visual way to explore the musical alphabet as they begin their journey learning about musical notation and the music alphabet.”

• Project Orff: Phase One

  When our xylophone arrived the students were so excited to have this beautiful instrument! Their eyes lit up with joy and gratitude. We used it the first week to learn how to appropriately treat an instrument, take turns, and create our own melodies.

  We will be using this instrument and the others acquired through the other stages of Project Orff throughout the year to learn about improvisation, basic pitch notation, ostinatos, and so much more!
