Hi, my name is Jim and I'm attempting a pretty huge challenge. I've heard before that it is better to set higher goals and challenges for yourself to succeed than easy ones. Some will shake their head and roll their eyes when hearing what you are about to do sometimes saying how unrealistic it is. Let's prove them wrong together for some good causes. My goal: Raise $5,000 in 7 days With my increased interest in health, fitness, and healthy eating over the last couple years I've decided to direct my donations toward causes such as those. Please help me in reaching my goal and helping kids and teachers in need of education and supplies for this subject. Thank you for stopping by my page! hide
  • A Healthy Start In Kindergarten

    Funded Jul 9, 2013

My students were so excited to receive the sorting cart, the balls, the jump ropes, the hula hoops, and the bean bags. They look forward to getting the equipment to play with everyday.

My students are using the equipment at recess time. They are bouncing, kicking and throwing the balls, hula hooping, throwing the bean bags, and jumping rope. They really enjoy exercising everyday.

This project is helping my students and all the kindergarten students be more active and engage at recess time. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Coldros

  • Building Self-Esteem Through Volleyball

    Funded Jul 9, 2013

Thank you so much for supporting my Health/Physical Education and athletic program.

It's very hard to get new equipment this year with all the budget cuts that have taken place in Pennsylvania.

That's why your support is vital to the continued educational process.

My students are very grateful for your support. They hear things in the media about them and they may think no one cares because they are always cutting their resources.

The volleyballs will make a big difference when we do our volleyball unit. It makes a big difference when you use the proper equipment. It teaches the students the skills the way they are suppose to be taught.

The 40' ball is a fun way to teach some volleying skills plus the smiles on their faces is priceless when they see the ball.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Stepansky

  • Omnivore's Dilemma for Food Justice Unit

    Funded Jun 15, 2013

I am writing in gratification for your generous donation to fulfill my health class's need of a set of the book "Omnivore's Dilemma." As a class, we examine the food industry, our food source and the politics involved in the industry. As in most things in life, education is essentials for youngsters to feel confident in themselves and be better prepared to make informed decisions and to take control over their food options and overall health. This donation has been wonderful not only providing a book to begin our inquiry in the food industry, but also triggers a feeling of appreciation and increased self-worth in my students. When they learn that there are people out there willing to help them with their education, they react with excitement and gratitude. They are eager to learn about nutrition and healthful eating, surprised about it's politics and fins a drive to make a difference in their community and even in personal life choices. Your donation has made a positive impact on their self-esteem, health, and positive life choices.

My students have already begun their journey of self-awareness and personal well-being.

Many of my youngsters have hardships that make them feel at a loss of control. Our health class provides them with information to learn how to control parts of their lives, and often this has a positive impact on their dealing and coping mechanisms for many of life's hardships. Students keep

a food journal, discuss nutrition, and research methods to control food intake. Through this class, I have witnessed and experienced youngsters learning about fresh vegetables for the first time, open to understanding where their food comes from, and a willingness to share the new found information and ideas with their friends and family.. Many become responsible for home meals and gain important responsibility in their family structure. When students are eager, they have the capability to push themselves well into their potential. Not only are they more willing to work and try new things, they are vocal about their excitement around the challenges presented them. We discuss obstacles and brainstorm solutions. It is exciting to be part of, and quite rewarding.

When youngsters know that they have been selected for a special gift, they react with enthusiasm towards themselves. I often explain to them how donorschoose.org works and they are thrilled that there is an organization helping school children around the nation. I believe that this will have a lasting impact on their personal journey and again, we thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

  • Elementary School Learning Garden

    Funded Jul 14, 2013

I can't fully express my excitement and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children through real-world experiences. There are so many ways to teach, but diving in and putting your knowledge into action is a true learning experience.

The tools that you have funded will enable students to expand on their own community garden, which will allow students in all grade to use and learn from. In addition, I will be able to teach the students about healthy eating habits, the importance of gardening, and so much more year round.

I hope to share with my school community an exciting way to engage children's learning through the community garden. Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hart

  • Outdoor Classroom Needs Composters

    Funded Jun 10, 2013

I can't fully express my gratitude and my excitement for your donations to our composting project. It is awesome that you think it's important to support our school's vision for fostering our students' learning in science with composting and growing a garden.

The composters that you have funded will allow our students to learn the intricacies of nature through the process of making compost. It will also allow them to experiment and observe the importance of using composting in growing their own food. Students learn best from authentic, hands-on learning and these tools will ensure learning experiences that will last a lifetime.

I hope to share with my colleagues the experiences we've learned from the composters. Thank you so much! I can't wait to use these composters on our next salad spring crop of lettuce, carrots, peas, onions and radishes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. West
