  • Tablets for the Partner Reading

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Technology helped my classroom is a major way. My district purchased an online reading program that is equipped with an at home app. Many of families have not used the app at home. Since receiving the tablets, I am able to allow my students to use the app to improve them reading skills in the classroom.

For many years, a technology center has been a center I would love to have. But usually, the school can only provide one desktop computer. With 30 Kindergartners, it takes 15 days for each student to be paired to work on the computer. That is two per month! The donations of tablets assists because I use them in Reading and Math small group time. Each students gets to the technology workstations (Read with Technology or Math with Technology) for eight minutes once per week.

My students are so excited and appreciative for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A. Brown

  • Collaboration On The Carpet- 4th Grade Style

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

After asking many times for a new rug for my classroom, you all made it possible! The students will love to be able to sit in relative comfort on a brand new carpet.

This carpet will be replacing an old, funky smelling past-its-prime rug that was not the best for several years. Now everyone will have their own personal square to sit in and it will brighten up our room a lot! Students will be able to lounge on the carpet and learn as well.

Thanks again for your generosity of a new rug for our classroom!”

  • School Store Items for Smashing Second Graders!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you for helping us with this needed resource. The kids have been so thrilled to have art and fitness items in their school store. The kids now have items to save for as incentives. Very often, we have to buy all these items ourselves and it becomes very costly. Thank you for helping us inspire the students to make good choices in school and out of school. As the weather has gotten warmer, students are now able to enjoy and use the kick balls and paints outside.

Thank you for supporting us from both near and far, as we raise these young bright stars to be the citizens of tomorrow.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Palomares

  • Chromebooks for 21st Century Learning

    Funded Feb 5, 2016

Because we have access to the same tools over the web, we can reinforce the ideas by experimenting with the simulations themselves, any time, any where. Technology allows the tables to be turned. Instead of teaching (push), we can be given projects that require us to learn the necessary material ourselves. The key to this is the ability to get the information we need any time anywhere, without being in the physical presence of our teacher. This project-based pull approach makes learning far more interesting for us.Through the use of open, free educational tools on the web, the dependence on expensive paper textbooks can be reduced greatly. We are continuing to practice for our upcoming end of year assessments, and with the technology, we are able to work with skills and strategies that would normally require a lot of copy paper. We are truly appreciative for your donations towards our continued educational process.”

  • Empowering Students Through Art in their PreK Quest to Excel

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you for generously funding our project 'Empowering Students Through Art In Their Pre-K Quest to Excel'. The students were very excited as the packages were delivered to our classroom with the special gifts! They took part in opening each package and were immediately thrilled to see the new colored pencils, regular markers, dry erase markers, dry erasers, and seats storage packs. Everyone wanted to use all of the new items right away, and we did!

One of our first projects since we received the new art tools was to decorate and create things that reminded us of Spring. Students decorated flowers and butterflies using the very colorful markers and colored pencils. They also created their own Spring scenes that included their favorite thoughts of the Spring season. How beautifully they turned out! We decided to make a display outside of the classroom for all to see! We've received many compliments about the vibrant colors. In addition, the students used our new dry erase markers on dry erase boards to write short phrases about Spring such as flowers growing, playing outside, butterflies flying, and bees buzzing. It was an excellent way for them to practice fine motor skills, letter sequencing, and letter knowledge. The results from our young learners were very impressive. When the activities were completed, students happily straightened up their areas by placing items in their new chair storage packs.

Looking ahead, our boys and girls will have daily opportunities to use all of the wonderful items sent to us. As we work on letter and number activities, students will create illustrations that reflect new and challenging academic skills. In addition, students will use our new markers and colored pencils to make creative projects for Mother's day and Father's day, as well as, expressing their thoughts about stories in their own drawings. The enthusiasm evident as students use their new art tools is refreshing.

Many thanks once again for your generosity and interest in helping our young learners to excel. 'Empowering Students To Excel Through Art' has also empowered my class to excel in all academic areas.”

  • Projector Detector

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

First of all, I would like to thank you again for your generosity in funding my project. In a classroom that's so limited in technology, it means so much to my class. Technology is a big part of today and it allows the students to learn in so many different ways.

The projector and the laptop work together as one powerful source of learning for my students that are all self-contained special education students. While it is wonderful to have tablets, in order to know that all students are on the same page at the same time; you need more advanced technology. With our white board, laptop, and projector; we can project images on the whiteboard in an extremely large form and we make them interactive. For example, they are able to move around objects on the board which makes learning more fun and educational for the students.

Finally, with my students being visual learners, this tool is valuable to our population. Special needs students need all the assistance they can get to help them advance and move forward. Thank you for these resources and the students love seeing everything projected on the wall in full color like volcanoes exploding, underwater coral colors, and mathematics problems coming to life before their eyes.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Andrews
